Define the question and the evidence
List the important requirements and the checks needed to review them. Agree samples, conditions, measurements and who evaluates the result. Verification concerns the specified requirements; validation addresses the intended use and stakeholder needs. A single successful demonstration should not automatically be treated as evidence of long-term performance.
Record the tested configuration
Identify the design revision, components, settings and any temporary features. Keep trial conditions visible so another person can understand what was demonstrated. Where specialist measurement or process expertise is required, identify that responsibility before the test instead of interpreting an informal observation as a complete technical result.
Review outcomes and unresolved issues
Compare observations with the agreed criteria and record failures as well as successful checks. Separate a needed design change from a change in the original requirement. If the configuration changes, identify which checks need repeating and whether earlier results still apply. A prototype review should produce a specific next decision.
Agree acceptance and further work
Remote, on-site and documented review can be arranged for the project. Define customer participation and the trial records in the proposal. QDM can coordinate the agreed mechanical checks; specialist regulatory, clinical or process qualification remains a separately defined responsibility and is not established merely by completing a prototype demonstration.
What to define for the project.
| Decision | What to define | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Criteria | Requirement and intended-use question | Defines the evidence needed |
| Article | Exact tested configuration | Supports meaningful comparison |
| Conditions | Samples, settings and environment | Sets the result’s limits |
| Outcome | Observations and unresolved issues | Guides the next revision |
| Acceptance | Reviewer and agreed records | Clarifies the decision |
These notes support an initial engineering discussion. Material grades, manufacturing routes, dimensions and acceptance criteria are selected for the actual application and confirmed in the project specification.
