Mechanical Design Support
If your ongoing project needs additional design support, you want to outsource a specific machine section, or existing drawings need preparation for manufacturing, we can work with you.
Quick Design Makina provides mechanical design support alongside your engineering team or takes responsibility for a defined work package. We prepare 3D models, technical drawings, manufacturing files and part lists for your project requirements.
Discuss your design requirements
What can we help with?
- 3D CAD modelling: Part and assembly models; designs developed from existing drawings and measurements.
- Mechanisms and motion systems: Mechanical arrangements for the required motion, working envelope and connection requirements.
- Machine modules and assemblies: Handling, feeding, fixtures, testing and assembly sections.
- Sheet metal and welded structures: Housings, frames, cabinets and connection parts.
- Technical drawings and manufacturing files: Dimensions, tolerances, material specifications and process-specific files.
- BOMs and purchasing lists: Manufactured parts, standard components and quantities.
- Design revisions: Updates to models and files following product changes, supplier feedback or manufacturing requirements.
How do we work together?
1. Define the work scope
We clarify which part, assembly or machine section needs support. We review existing models, drawings, measurements and technical requirements. File formats, design rules, deliverables and schedule are agreed at the outset.
2. Develop the design
Parts and assemblies are designed within the agreed scope. We consider manufacturing methods, component selection, assembly and maintenance access together, including interfaces with the existing machine and other equipment.
3. Review together
We review the design with your team at agreed stages, track necessary changes and update model and drawing revisions together.
4. Deliver manufacturing files
We deliver 3D models, technical drawings, assembly information and part lists within the agreed scope. Where requested, support can continue for technical questions arising during manufacturing and assembly.
Design for Manufacturing and Assembly — DFM / DFA
DFM — Design for Manufacturing: We assess materials, part geometry, tolerances, tool access and manufacturing methods together. We work to reduce unnecessary part complexity and manufacturing operations while meeting the application requirements.
DFA — Design for Assembly: We assess part counts, fasteners and assembly sequence. Tool access, adjustment and correct part positioning are considered during design.
Scope options for your requirements
| Requirement | Work scope | Deliverable |
|---|---|---|
| Additional design support | Part or assembly development alongside your team | 3D models and agreed files |
| A defined machine section | Responsibility for a module or mechanism design | Design and manufacturing files |
| Manufacturing preparation | Drawings and lists prepared from existing models | Technical drawings, production files and BOM |
| Design improvement | Manufacturing and assembly review and revisions | Updated models and files |
Sample manufacturing files
The technical drawing and BOM below were prepared for the same sample sensor mounting assembly. They do not belong to an actual customer project.
Deliverables tailored to your project
- 3D part and assembly files
- Manufacturing drawings and process-specific production files
- Assembly drawings and necessary assembly instructions
- Bill of materials (BOM) and purchasing information
- Revision information and agreed technical notes
File formats, part numbering and folder organisation can be agreed to suit your existing working system.
Frequently asked questions
Can you work with our existing engineering team?
Yes. We can take responsibility for a defined design section within your project or support preparation of specific parts, assemblies and manufacturing files. Communication and review stages are agreed at the outset.
Can we commission technical drawings and BOM preparation only?
Yes. The scope can cover technical drawings, manufacturing files and part lists prepared from existing models. Incomplete or incorrect model features are reviewed separately for any necessary corrections.
Can you improve our existing design?
Yes. We can review models and operating requirements to evaluate design changes related to manufacturing, assembly, component selection or use.
Can we arrange project-based or ongoing support?
Both options can be discussed. Workload, schedule, responsibilities and working terms are agreed for your requirements.
How are confidentiality and design usage rights determined?
Confidentiality, file sharing, usage rights and any transfer of rights can be discussed at the proposal stage. Agreements and responsibilities are clarified before work begins.
What information should we share for an initial review?
A description of the work package, existing models or drawings, technical requirements and target delivery date are useful for the initial review. A firm scope is defined after reviewing this information.
Can you work as a subcontractor or project partner?
Yes. We can work with machine manufacturers, engineering companies and R&D teams as a subcontractor or project partner. We can take responsibility for a defined mechanical design package or work alongside your team on design, manufacturing files and technical coordination. The division of work, deliverables, schedule, confidentiality and each party's responsibilities are agreed at the proposal stage.
Let's define the support your project needs
Tell us about the design or files you need. Together, we can agree on a suitable division of work and deliverables for your team.
