How the process fits the part

A formed sheet part can reduce the need for separate welded pieces. Tooling, material condition, thickness and geometry influence the achievable shape. The bend sequence must leave room for the tooling and existing flanges. A visually simple enclosure can become difficult to form if the final bends obstruct access.

Design decisions before manufacture

Review internal radii, flange lengths, holes near bends and the material’s grain direction where relevant. Define the finished dimensions rather than treating the flat pattern as the sole acceptance reference. Confirm bend allowance with the fabrication partner and avoid carrying an unverified allowance from a different material or tool set.

Inspect the finished result

Check important formed angles and the locations used for assembly. Include surface marking and edge condition when appearance or cleanability matters. A trial first piece can help confirm the selected blank and bend sequence before a repeat batch. Agree which dimensions are measured in the free state and which relate to installed assembly.

What to send for a quotation

Provide material, thickness, quantity, a formed-part view and any visible-face requirements. Explain whether the part carries load, closes an enclosure or locates another component. QDM can develop the geometry and coordinate cutting, forming and any subsequent joining or finishing under an agreed scope.
