How the process fits the part

The selected resin, tool arrangement and part geometry form one production decision. A mould can reproduce the intended shape in a repeat process, but the result depends on a reviewed material and tooling route. Compare tooling work, first samples and expected quantity with alternative methods before committing to the process.

Design decisions before manufacture

Review wall transitions, draft, ribs, bosses, undercuts and the tooling split. Include gating, ejection and visible-surface expectations in the discussion with the moulding specialist. Avoid finalizing a housing solely around a printed prototype; features that print easily may need redesign before the mould can be built and operated.

Inspect the finished result

Agree first-sample checks against the important assembly and appearance requirements. Confirm dimensions in the agreed material and final processing state. Record any changes to the tool or resin and review their effect on mating components. A satisfactory sample should lead to a defined repeat-production acceptance plan rather than an assumed universal result.

What to send for a quotation

Send the part function, available geometry, resin requirements, quantity and expected repeat demand. Identify critical interfaces, finish and any product-contact documentation. QDM can develop the mechanical part and coordinate a project-specific tooling or moulding package; tooling ownership, revisions and drawings are agreed in the contract.
