How the process fits the part
A grinding operation can refine a shaft, bore or locating face after earlier machining. It should be planned as part of the complete route, especially when heat treatment comes before the finished dimensions. The selected surface finish and geometry need to serve a bearing, seal or other actual interface, not a blanket precision claim.
Design decisions before manufacture
Leave a reviewed allowance and define access for the grinding method. Identify shoulders, reliefs and surfaces that must maintain a relationship. Avoid setting a finish requirement without explaining its function. Discuss whether the finished surface will later be coated or assembled in a way that affects the specified dimension.
Inspect the finished result
Measure the functional size, surface condition and relevant geometrical relationship after the final operation. The inspection setup should follow the defined datum references. If a ground component is part of a rotating assembly, the customer’s bearing or seal interface requirements should guide the checks and acceptance criteria.

Provide the material grade, heat-treatment condition, pre-machined state, quantity and final interfaces. Identify required measurements and documentation.
