Explain the operation sequence

Describe loading, positioning, processing, unloading and the situations in which the equipment needs attention. Include how the operator or adjacent machine interacts with it. A layout should help the customer discuss the real operation rather than only assess whether the exterior looks complete.

Place the important interfaces first

Identify the workpiece, purchased modules, mounting references and connections to the surrounding process. Review access for assembly, cleaning and replacement where relevant. Involve the customer’s electronics or controls team early so the mechanical arrangement does not depend on an interface that has not been agreed.

Compare concepts against the same requirement

Use the current brief to discuss fit, practical manufacture, service access and major uncertainties. A visually attractive concept can still be awkward to build or maintain. Record why a direction was selected and which details remain open; preliminary component choices may need further supplier confirmation.

Freeze the agreed direction for the next package

A concept review should identify the chosen arrangement and the inputs required for detailed design. Record changes to the brief and the review owner. QDM can prepare this stage within an agreed engineering scope, with further revisions and drawing deliverables handled under the project-specific commercial terms.

These notes support an initial engineering discussion. Material grades, manufacturing routes, dimensions and acceptance criteria are selected for the actual application and confirmed in the project specification.
