How the process fits the part

The process is suitable for conductive metals rather than every material that can be cut by another technology. Handheld and mechanized arrangements serve different needs. For a custom machine part, compare the expected contour and edge condition with the required finished geometry instead of selecting a process from thickness alone.

Design decisions before manufacture

Identify holes, narrow features and edges that will become welded or machined interfaces. The thermal cutting route should be considered when defining allowances and subsequent work. A frame plate used only as a blank may have different acceptance needs from a locating plate that fits directly into an assembly.

Inspect the finished result

Review dimensions and the agreed edge condition, including any required removal of adherent material or burrs. Measure critical interfaces after the relevant finishing operations. If the part is welded into a larger structure, the frame’s final geometry needs its own check; a compliant cut blank does not establish the completed assembly.

What to send for a quotation

Provide material grade, thickness, quantity, outline and the finished-part role. State whether cutting, deburring, welding, machining and coating are all included. QDM can coordinate a reviewed fabrication route through project partners and help separate the economical blank-making step from the interfaces requiring controlled final machining.
